These are courses tailored to specific student purposes and carried out with the help and supervision of a mentor in the department. They require special registration arrangements and the specific permission of the department. The following restrictions apply.
- In general, permission will not be given when the material of the individual study course would substantially overlap that of a regular undergraduate course routinely offered by the department.
- Study designed as preparation for an external examination does not normally qualify for credit, where the syllabus is determined by the content of the external exam. Students who wish to undertake such study under the supervision of a suitable faculty member are encouraged to do so, but should not expect course credit.
