Mathematics Department - Tenure-Track Assistant Professor or Tenured Associate/Full Professor

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor or Tenured Associate/Full Professor

Subject to availability of funding, the Department expects at least two openings at the level of Tenure-Track Assistant Professor. In exceptional cases, there may be the possibility of appointment at a higher level. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and show a strong record of research accomplishments in pure or applied mathematics as well as effective teaching. The Department has hiring priorities in Discrete Mathematics, Mathematics of Big Data, Geometry/Topology, Analysis, and Algebra. However, outstanding candidates in any field of pure or applied mathematics will be considered. The normal annual teaching load for research-active faculty is 2-1, that is, two courses for one semester, plus one course for the other semester.

The required application materials are a resume (electronic or printed, including a publication list), four letters of recommendation, one of which evaluates teaching and preferably describes quantitive evidence of teaching ability, a teaching statement and research statement, both not to exceed five pages in length. A cover letter, and additional letters of recommendation, are optional for applicants at the assistant level and encouraged for exceptional applicants at a higher level.

It is strongly suggested (but not absolutely required, as stated below) that all application materials be submitted electronically through the mathjobs website.

If necessary, application materials may also be submitted throught the jobs.rutgers.edu website.

The electronic version of the AMS Cover Sheet must be filled out completely at the mathjobs website. Make sure that you include the AMS Subject Classification number of your area(s) of specialization (2-digit codes).

Review of applications begins November 1, 2016 and continues until any potential openings are filled.
