News Item: Joel Lebowitz receives the 2007 Max Planck Prize

REGENSBURG, GERMANY, MARCH, 2007 - Professor Joel Lebowitz has received the Max Planck Prize, the highest award of the German Physical Society for Theoretical Physics. He was cited

[for his deep contributions to both Equilibrium and Non-equilibrium Statistical Physics, in particular for his contributions to the theory of phase transformations, the dynamics of infinite systems, and the theory of non-equilibrium stationary states. He is being honored in addition for bringing many to the frontier of knowledge and for his inspiring teaching of generations of scientists in this area.]
