The Homework is going to be inspected, by Dr. Z. I don't have a grader, so am unable to give you
detailed feedback, but I will check that you did your best. If you have any questions, ask by email, or during office hours.
The homework should be sent by 10:00pm, Sunday night to
DrZcalc3@gmail.com
with
Subject: HomeworkDueDate
and an attachment (either .txt [slightly prefered] using COMPUTEREZE, or .pdf (scanned handwriting).
called
FirstNameLastNameDueDate.txt, OR, FirstNameLastNameDueDate.pdf
For example, the first homework assignment is due Sept. 13, and assuming your name is Issac Newton, then
before Sept. 13, 2020, 10:00pm (Rutgers time) you email
DrZcalc3@gmail.com
with
Subject: HomeworkDueSept13
and an attachment
IsaacNewtonSept13.txt [Or IsaacNewtonSept13.pdf]

Zixin Qu pointed out that the answer to #23 in the book is wrong (it is the answer to #25)
#23 is a "show" question that has no specific answer

Shubin Xie noticed that the answer to (1)(b) in the book has a typo: (10,2) should be (10,12)

- Chapter 16:
- 16.1 :
1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 17, 23, 25, 27 (due: 11/8 )
Shubin Xie noticed that the answer to (25)(b) in the book has a typo: in the second component of curl(F),
2x2 should be -2x2
- 16.2 :
3, 9, 11, 13, 17, 27, 29, 31, 35 (due: 11/15)
- 16.3 :

- 16.4 :

- 16.5 :

- Chapter 17:
- 17.1 :
1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 13 (due: 12/6)
Hint for #13: The integral over the non-closed path ABCD=The integral over the closed path ABCDA - the integral over the line segment DA.
For the first use Greene, for the second do it directly (dx=0 along the y-axis, and x=0, so you get a very simple y-integral.
- 17.2 :
1, 3, 5, 9, 11, 13 (due: 12/6 )
Hints:#9: since curl(F) is the zero vector, the surface is irrelevant.
#11: You need to use the formula for the vector-field surface integral from handout 16.5, the sufrace is z=2,
and the projection to the xy-plane is the disc center origin, radius 3.
#13: Use the method of chapter 12 to find the equation of the plane through these three points, express it
in explicit form, to get the equation of the surface. The projection of this surface on the xy-plane is the
triangle whose vertices are (0,0),(3,0),(3,3)
- 17.3 :
1, 3, 5, 7, 11, 15 (due: 12/13)
For #1, #3 only do the volume integrals. We did not learn how to do vector-field surface integrals for
general surfaces, only for sufraces given in explicit format (of course, you are welcome do look it up, but it is optional)
