Homework page for Math 291:01, spring 2003

Students should be able to do the textbook problems assigned for each section covered in the book.

For the week beginning March 10 Prepare for the exam.
I would like people to work on:
1. "Their" review problems. Please send me plain text e-mail. You certainly may request hints. I will be happy to supply some.
2. Look through the textbook problems for sections 14.1-14.7, and send me e-mail about any you would like me to go over.

Due Wednesday, February 12. We must move on. I would like students to tell me by e-mail which textbook problems in sections 13.1-13.4 I should go over in class on Wednesday. Also due on Wednesday is the computational exercise on a space curve. And due next Monday are the next set of workshop problems.

Here now (10:34 PM on Tuesday evening) are the first suggestions for the vital answers to the questions about the curve:
T =-1/2i+1/2j+1/sqrt(2)k
N = -1/sqrt(2)i-1/sqrt(2)j+0k
B = 1/2i-1/2j+1/sqrt(2)k
Kappa = 1/2 (two people report this) or 1/sqrt(2) (one report)
Tau = 5/2 or 3/2 (sorry: different observers, different answers!)

Due Monday, February 10. Begin reading chapter 13 of the text. I would like students to tell me by e-mail which textbook problems in sections 12.1-12.5 I should go over in class. I am skipping 12.6 and 12.7 for now. Also due Monday are the third set of workshop problems.

Due Monday, January 27 Begin reading chapter 12 of the text. I would like students to hand in individual responses to both of the first workshop problems. I may also ask for some textbook problems: check back and stay awake in class!
