Remarks On the PARRONDO PARADOX

The so-called Parrondo Paradox (see e.g. accounts in Derek Abbott's page, Eric's short but lucid Treasure Troves entry, and John Allen Paulos's gripping and entertaining article) is not more paradoxical than the fact that it is a better idea to knock before entering rather than to enter before knocking, but it is nevertheless fascinating.
