It was nice to explore things using experimental math methods.

NOTHING AT ALL
I would learn the course material before you try to teach it to the class and ask the author of the book from which you are teaching your questions about his book (especially if his office is next to yours). I would also make sure the homework was not as frustrating as it was sometimes.
