2014 Almgren Memorial Mayday Race Results
(May 4, 2014)

The Rutgers Physics γ Team won the 39th annual Fred Almgren memorial race trophy, with a time of 2:52. There were 11 teams competing.

The race was just a few days after a major storm (see photo); parts of leg 2 were badly damaged, and leg 6 was rerouted through South Bound Brook. In addition, Rutgers Math started running at the wrong location (Alexander Road) and crossed the starting line (Washington Road) over 11 minutes after everyone else.
Here are the detailed 2014 Race statistics.

The next race will be May 3, 2015, from Rutgers to Princeton.

The results are presented below in a series of tables :

Notes: (1) The Rutgers Math teams started at Alexander Road
(after some phone calls), and ran to Washington Road (the
starting point of the race) after 11:45. The actual time for
leg #1 was 22:02. (The two Rutgers teams split after leg #4.)

    (2) Last 3 times for PU Fun Math #2 were calculated virtually; the runner for
leg #5 left at 12:12:41 but the runner for leg #4 arrived at 12:30:27,
17:46 later. This team crossed the finish line after 4:10:43, not 4:28:27.
Sophie Morel ran leg #6 for PU Fun Math #1

    (3) NJ Parks closed part of leg #6 for repairs, and runners were
re-routed for 2.3 miles along Canal Road from the Footbridge to
Queen's Bridge in downtown South Bound Brook.

Thanks! The picnic team did an awesome job this year!
We are grateful to Francesco Fiordalisi, Thomas Sznigir, Hanlong Fang, Matthew Russell, and Antony Zaleski. The picnic dealt with flooding, mud, closed picnic groves and parking. Thanks for making this year's picnic happen!

Thanks also go to the many timers of this year's race! They were: Chuck Weibel, Nick Sheridan, John Miller, Syed Hassan, Philomena Chu, Nathan Fox and Brian Garnett.
