The Princeton Physics team were the winners of the 2001 Fred Almgren memorial race trophy. Their time was 2:38 at a pace of 6:11 minutes/mile. This year, there were nine teams competing. The results are presented below in a series of tables :
There was also a team demonstration of a possible bicycle competition to parallel the foot race.

Bicycle Team Demonstration
This year (2001), there was also a team demonstration
of a possible bicycle competition,
to be run in parallel with the foot race.
The team members, from Princeton, were:
They designed a race course of 60 miles, consisting of
15 miles on the towpath and 45 miles on roads.
Their race lasted a total time of 2:42.
Their average speed was 22.2 mph.
Here is a description of the course:
Leg # (towpath or road)[distance in miles]: description
-------------------------------------------------------
Leg 1 (towpath)[5]: Landing Lane Bridge to South Bound Brook Lock
Leg 2 (road) [15]: South Bound Brook Lock to Route 518, Rocky Hill
(Weston Canal (623) -> Weston Road -> Mettler's Road ->
Amwell Road -> Market Street -> Canal Road -> 518)
Leg 3 (towpath)[4]: Route 518, Rocky Hill to Kingston Lock, at Route 27
turn around and back to Route 518, Rocky Hill
Leg 4 (road) [30]: Route 518, Rocky Hill Loop
(518 -> Canal -> Market -> Amwell -> Mettler's -> Weston ->
Weston Canal -> Cottontail -> Campus -> Elizabeth ->
New Brunswick -> Cedar Grove -> Weston -> Mettler's ->
Amwell -> Market -> Canal -> 518)
Leg 5 (towpath)[6]: Route 518, Rocky Hill to Alexander Road, Princeton
