- Prerequisites: The minimal prerequisites for Math 300 are 640:151 and 640:152 although most students in the course will have had more math courses than this. Admission to the honors section is by application only. You must use the special permission form for honors courses and sections, http://www.math.rutgers.edu/undergrad/specperm.html#honors This form is different than the special permission form for closed sections.
- Syllabus: There is no preset syllabus for this course. We will cover the basics of mathematical proofs and mathematical writing, and a rigorous approach to the basic objects of mathematics: numbers, sets, functions and relations. The pace and topics will be adjusted based on the rate of progress of the students. As time permits, we will do some introductory material in real analysis and abstract algebra.
