What do you like best about this course?:

The teacher. She was very passionate and that reflected in her teaching.

The instructor has great patience to explain the materials to the class.

The professor is very easy to talk to, answers questions enthusiastically, and generally is a great teacher.

I was lots of fun being in Professor Coulson's class Ilearned quite a bit inher class however she is a tough grader and wuestions asked by her really do make you think.... overall this was a good class to take....

It was straightforward.

Becky is a fantastic instructor, she was very enthusiastic about the material and was very clear when she explained the material. She is very approachable, so if I had any issue I can always go to her to ask her questions. She made Linear Algebra fun and I looked forward to going to class everyday. More instructors could learn from her.

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

I would change the required textbook. The textbook is extremely confusing and convoluted. In order to learn, I actually have to borrow my friend's textbook that he used when he went to another school.

It's perfect.

I would spend more time in class going over more difficult examples, rather than going through the easier cases.

I would spend more time with each and every studeent as much as possible and try to clearify the coonceptual and computaional problems to them and I would definitely say to the math department that this text book is very confusing therefore they should consider some different text bok by a different author.... the matrial as taught by the book itself is rather vague and hard to understand by one on his or her own.

Select a better textbook.

I would perhaps hold the big quizzes towards the last day of class, to sum up the week rather then during the beginning of the week.

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

Encouraged me to take more linear algebra based courses like graph theory or linear optimization.

Understanding math logic by combing it into practical life applications can be really helpful.

She makes it very easy to ask questions, and never discourages a question, no matter how stupid it may seem. She also is very excited about the material which makes it much more bearable, being that it is somewhat dry of a subject to begin with.

In the beginning I was totally lost , howver as the course approached its' conclusion everything kind of binded together which is the good part but still this is a hard course and not easy at all and I really mean that.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It made me realize that in order to understand something well, you need a good foundation to build upon. This course makes you build on the material you learned previously. If you have a shaky foundation you're not going to get far.

Other comments or suggestions::

Please, if you care about your students, change the textbook.

I couldn't be more satisfied with a math professor and I honestly believe Professor Coulson is the best math teacher I've had at Rutgers, and I say this having taken over 5 math courses before

Best of luck to Professor Coulson in her future endeavors and I wish her all the luck in advancing her studies and making a difference in the field of mathematics

Sure.
