What do you like best about this course?:

I enjoy calculus in that it involves actual cognition and thinking, rather than simple memorization. The instructor also does a great job in detailing each topic in lecture and providing copious examples. He is also extremely professional and knowledgable in his field of study.

nothing it was too hard.

Professor Guadagni is a great professor who taught the course very well, and I was able to learn a great deal from him and his organized lectures.

How the professor took times to explain concepts

I learned a lot about limits and derivatives

Professor is patient.

The lectures

Group work during recitation

The large help provided.

the teacher is good at teaching

I personally like math so I was excited to take it.

The lecture notes were very organized and easy to understand

Dr. G made this course very challenging yet interesting.

Teaching style

The notes are well organized

His in class notes help me a lot

I really liked the the way the professor taught this course, i felt that the way it was taught really allowed me to learn. Also i like never really liked math classes and I found that this made me like math a bit more, mainly because of the professor.

The recitation and weekly quizzes.

This course really challenged me to be more active in my studies. If you want to do well in the class you have to do more than just the homework and worksheets.

I like how the professor's course load and teaching methods allowed me to also study effectively for other courses.

The professor used effective methods such as the digital writing on the screen instead of the chalk and board which was useful and time-saving.

He was much better at explaining why we take the steps we do to complete a problem than my previous math instructors.

a little difficult but fair enough. Dr.G is pretty good.

Very very very organized. Gets straight to the point with everything, good resources out there to practice and I love doing Math so of course I enjoy it.

i Like the algebra and the general concepts

The fast-paced feel was something that challenged me, but was also something I appreciated because it helped me better prepare for quizzes and exams.

online notes

The recitation sessions were very helpful in understanding the subject matter.

The professor was good at explaining the problems and providing concrete examples.

The clean, organized style of lectures, Dr. G's rare and oftentimes badly-delivered jokes

Instructor had well prepared notes that made learning easy

Dr. G answered all questions that were brought to him by students during and after lecture.

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

I would allow students time to try to answer an example by themselves and then go over it, which could really help a student learn how to do the problems by themselves.

i would try to explain more and make sure the classes understand. i would also get rid of math xl it doesnt help

Explain the grading better

Make the midterms less harsh and more on par with the other Calculus sections.

I won't make the exam so difficult.

Nithing

Not make students feel bad about getting bad grades

Nothing

not intentionally make the midterms significantly harder than the other calculus professors

The teacher said he made the midterm exams hard on purpose tonprepare us for the finals. I understand how that methodology might work however it is not very confidence boosting to see failing grades in the gradebook throughout the year.

Nothing

Give harder quizzes and practice tests.

Nothing

I would make the midterms easier but that's just me

no

I would give easier questions on the homework, because i found that the questions were very hard on the homework and the ones we did as examples were a lot easier so I found it hard to complete the homework.

I would answer questions more effectively.

I would probably make homework or the quizzes more similar to questions that could be on the exam, otherwise, I enjoyed the way Guadagni taught the class/wrote his notes.

I would do more difficult examples to truly demonstrate the course material

Go a little slower, make students feel heard and comfortable.

My instructor tends not to answer Algebra based questions a student might have, if I taught the course I'd answer all relevant questions.

I have no idea

There are loads of past midterms out there, but I feel like more final exams should be posted too so we have the chance to practice those too.

I would go over harder material in relation to the exam

Not make quiz questions from recitation and questions on exams so drastic in their difficulty. Seemed that exam questions were significantly harder than those that we were tested on in preparation

i would make students practice some difficult questions to prepare for exams.

I would probably had made the difficulty of the quiz similar to that of the exams.

Change the difficulty of the exams to better match other professors.

Nothing. Keep doing what you do, Dr. G!

Nothing

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

The instructor is extremely diligent in writing out the notes, which is very helpful if you want to review using notes directly from the lecture.

I like the professor as a person but expects too much also assumes that everyone is a business major

His teaching style was effective and straight to the point.

I have understood the role of calculus in business applications better

Encourage students do more exercise.

In didn’t want to feel ashamed of my grade so I studied more

Helped me to prepare well for things

i got to do harder work for no real reason other than to lower my GPA

Go to class or you will fail.

This course has encouraged my intellectual growth because the lecture notes were detailed and the professor shared his website with us and the website had numerous extra resources to help us.

He has provided every opportunity to further explain concepts to students.

Strengthened my calculus skills

In class notes

I believe that the professor made me enjoy math a lot more than I use to, I was able to grow because I now see math as actual things that can be applied in life rather than just random things that I would never use in everyday life.

No ways

The difficulty of the exams and the class as a whole made me want to do better, moreover, I had to do better in order to pass the class. It's definitely a tough class but he gives you the resources you need to do well.

He forced me to change my study habits

He encouraged me to study harder because his midterms were very challenging, but it didn't work out very well there wasn't enough time to study at a higher level for every midterm.

He has prepared me for future math courses and has indirectly taught me how to study for it.

Yes, math is helpful for intellectual growth

Dr G takes time to make lessons very interactive and he is approachable too. Makes funny comments in class to liven the mood. He's really down to earth and honest, which I appreciate.

It made me study harder

Calculus wasn't something I found particularly interesting, in terms of the concepts. Just being able to do the problems successfully was what I enjoyed, being able to master the ideas. I did not really enjoy learning them, but I enjoyed going about the work.

logical way

In this course I discovered a new way to study for math.

Nope

By uploading all the lecture notes online, I can easily use the lecture notes to review and recall what I learned in each lecture. Dr. G also encourages us to use his worksheets and the textbook problems for review; in this way, all of the resources that students can use to get extra help or practice are presented readily in an organized, easy-to-find fashion and that's really nice.

providing neat and organized notes to learn and study from

stop giving such hard exams relative to other professors

The problems on the midterm do not match the rigor of the class

no

I really enjoyed this class and I believe that the professor teaches the class very well.

Please make the midterms a bit easier or teach us sample problems that are on the midterm exactly so that our scores aren't so low in comparison to the scores of people in other calculus classes.
