What do you like best about this course?:

He has generally good explanations and sample problems

The professor is the absolute best

The methods Professor Guadagni used to proove theorems, the examples used to utlize the tools we learned, and practice problems that would be similar to the hw.

Great Material.

It introduced me to important concepts in Calculus that will help me achieve success in my future courses in an organized manner.

I learned several new knowledges.

The examples he provided for each topic

the professor was able to explain everything in detail

no

The examples done in class can be helpful especially when referred to for web assigns. However, the overall speed the instructor teaches the course is extremely fast. Especially for those who have no inclination towards mathematics are strongly discouraged to withdraw from the course without acknowledging the desire to do well and overcome their difficulties.

The weekly recitation because we review thing. But our recitation instructor doesn't seem to effectively review the lessons we learned in class.

The pace at which the course was taught was good and easy to keep up with.

The material was presented at a constant and simple pace.

This course was very tough, but the only part about it that I like is that you can do most of the work from home.

I like how we went over many examples for each lecture ranging from easy to difficult which helped while studying for exams.

I specifically thought Professor Guadagni was definitely one of the best calculus professors at Rutgers, however I believe that the overall course of Calculus at Rutgers is extremely flawed.

The way he presents

I liked how clear and concise his teaching style is.

he interacted a lot more than other math professors do

During lecture I was able to learn the material

N/A

The lessons were indepth

i hated calc

it was interesting

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

i should decrease the difficulty level of exams and increase exam time period to 80 mins from 70 mins.

Go a bit slower and align webassign questions more with what was taught in class

None

Nothing.

Nothing.

It would have been more helpful if the instructor taught at a slower pace as I found it hard to catch up with what the instructor was saying most of the time thus was hindered on my understanding of the concepts, I had to copy notes down in a hurry at times. It may be better if the instructor utilized power points so students don't have to strain eyes to see the board.

I'd like to use the electronic devices since the students behind might see clearer.

nothing

go a little bit slower

no

We are usually left with 20 -15 min left in lecture to do examples provided by the professor. Use that time instead to go over the nuances and perhaps specific difficulties of that lecture. MAKE EXAMS EASIER. The overall speed the instructor teaches the course is extremely fast. Especially for those who have no inclination towards mathematics are strongly discouraged to withdraw from the course without acknowledging the desire to do well and overcome their difficulties.

Not make questions on exams more difficult than the questions we did in class or webassign.

Make the midterms a little more doable.

Provide more examples and harder examples

If I were teaching this course, I would actually teach the students instead of just reading off the papers he brings to class.

N/A

I would not teach differently, however when it came to some exams specifically the second one many of the questions were a lot more difficult than what we had done in class, homework and quizzes.

Maybe more example questions

I would have worksheets so that there are more ways to practice.

nothing

I would teach in a way that actually prepared my students for the exams I give.

I would take time to go over homework problems that a majority of the class got wrong. I would also go over quiz or exam problems that a majority of the class did not understand.

Did not prepare for midterm 2

eh

Teach slower and thoroughly explain the steps of problems.

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

he is very willing to explain and go slower at his office hours.

None

Professor Guadagni is very approachable. It is more than easy to ask a question for clarification or to take chances answering questions in class.

Interesting.

The instructor taught me to see Calculus concepts in a clear manner and doing it in an organized way facilitated my understanding and interest in the subject material.

Yes, since this course need huge amount of exercises, I spend much more time on studying.

Came around to help us with problems even though the class was really big

hes motivated me to work harder

no

by preying on anxiety and having an F loom over you, the instructor successfully encourages intellectual growth and progress. It is up to you to study, which I did and fully blame myself for failing the 1st exam. However, the grading is really harsh.

Reviewed calculus.

It has taught me new ideas and concepts.

It has challenged me to think differently

He has not at all encouraged your intellectual growth and progress.

This course/instructor encouraged my progress because he gave time for us to work out problems on our own before showing the solution so we could think through it first.

I feel this course made me learn to work harder which I am already used to doing, but overall this course made me feel less confident in my intellectual growth due to it's severe level of difficulty.

None

N/A

It has not encouraged my intellectual growth or progress

N/A

None

hes very helpful when it comes to answering questions and is very helpful in every way he can

Other comments or suggestions::

mid term exam is too hard

n/a

N/a

I'm failing this course but it does not in any way reflect the professor's effectiveness. My grades are a product of my personal circumstances this semester.

Nope.

I would appreciate it if math 135 had a workshop session (similar to math 151) taught by the lecturer in addition to recitation to facilitate my understanding of the material in a better way.

No

nothing

MAKE EXAMS EASIER.

Professor Guadagni is a very good professor and taught the material well

I find it very frustrating that I devoted the majority of my time to studying for this class and have done poorly on my exams. I knew the course material, but the exams were rediculously complicated and not enough time was allotted to complete some of them.

The grading system is quite unfair. If an instructor or a section is not learning the material at the same rate as another section, of course that section will not perform equal to the other sections. It is unfair to give all sections the same exam and grade/curve the overall grades based on the results of that exam when students are learning from various professors or are going through class material at a different rate. You cannot guarantee that all material is covered evenly across classes and expect that the students learned what was expected across the board. It makes more sense for each professor to give/grade exams similar to how they were given all semester!

i just hate calculus so much with a fiery burning passion
