Growth of infinitely generated groups and a problem in additive number theory

In this talk we use additive number theory to describe the growth functions of groups with respect to an infinite set of generators. We also discuss the connection with a problem of Richard Schwartz on the bi-Lipschitz equivalence and quasi-isometry of different metrics on the integers.
