The Final Exam is Thursday, May 07, 12:00-3:00 PM in BE-250 (LIV).
This exam will cover sections 1.1-1.5, 3.1-3.5, 3.7, 4.1-4.6, 6.1-6.3, 7.1-7.4, 8.4, 9.1-9.4, 10.2, 11.1-11.3, 13.1.
You are expected to know the covered sections (including definitions, theorems, proofs, examples, methods, ideas, etc.), and how to do the homework problems and midterm problems to perfection. Regarding proofs, I expect that you understand them but not necessarily memorize them. You should be able to explain why each line implies the next if anybody asks you.
Exceptions: The proof of Theorem 6.10 was not covered (section 9.4). The proof of the law of quadratic reciprocity was not covered (sections 11.2-11.3). Only encryption and decryption was covered for the RSA and ElGamal cryptosystems (sections 8.4 and 10.2).
No calculators, books, notes, etc. will be allowed during the final exam. You may bring a pen/pencil, an eraser, and an old-fashioned watch.
Here are some practice problems for sections 11.3, 13.1, 8.4, and 10.2.
Next week I will have office hours in Hill 234 at the usual times, Tuesday 1:30 and Wednesday 12:30.
Good luck!
