Final Exam
The final exam will be held Friday, May 4, 12:–3:00 PM, in Hill
124. It will cover all of our work this semester, including
Schwarz-Christoffel transformations.
- No calculators are to be used on the exam. I will try to make
sure that all computations are simple.
- We will have a review/problem session on Wednesday, May 2,
5:00-6:20 PM, in Hill Center 423.
- Here is a tentative formula sheet for the final
exam; the actual final exam will contain at least these formulas.
Announcements and supplementary information
- 04/03/2012: I have placed the text Calculus of Variations, with
Applications to Physics \& Engineering, by Robert Weinstock (New York,
Dover, 1974) on reserve in the Mathemtics Library in Hill Center..
- 03/19/2012: Here is an appendix to the
notes on Schwarz-Christoffel transformations, giving more justification
of the formulas (including the formula we use when one point in the z plane
is at infinity).
- 02/18/2012: Here are the notes on
Schwarz-Christoffel transformations, the material that we will cover on
Tuesday, February 21.
Note: A slightly revised version was posted
on 2/19; the only change was a renumbering of the problems.
- 02/06/2012: I must change my office hours on Thursday, 2/09. That day my
office hours will be 9:30–10:20 and 11:20–11:50.
Exam 2
The second exam will be held Tuesday, April 10. It will cover all
our work on Chapters 23 and 24. (The Schwarz-Christoffel transformations
will not be covered, although they will be on the final exam.)
- No calculators are to be used on the exam. I will try to make
sure that all computations are simple.
- Here is a practice exam. This was Exam 2
last spring; you have already seen some of these problems on homework.
- We will have a review/problem session on Monday, April
9, 5:00-6:20 PM, in Hill Center 423.
Exam 1
The first exam will be held Thursday, February 23. It will cover
all our work through chapter 22, but not the Schwarz-Christoffel
transformations that we will discuss on Tuesday, 2/21. Remember that we
omitted section 22.5.
- No calculators are to be used on the exam. I will try to make
sure that all computations are simple.
- Here is a practice exam. This was Exam 1
last spring; you have already seen some of these problems on homework.
- We will have a review/problem session on Monday, February
20, at 8:00 PM, in Hill 124 (our usual classroom).
