Rutgers Math 421 -- Advanced Calculus for Engineering

This page deals only with one section from the Spring 1996 semester. See the course page for additional information. Handouts

Since the text, Erwin Kreyszig: Advanced Engineering Mathematics (7th  Edition) includes much more than be covered in a single semester, the syllabus was released in several parts to allow some flexibility in choice of material. Indeed, late in the course, it was decided to replace a discussion of the qualitative theory of systems of ordinary differential equations (which had received considerable attention in the previous course) with an analysis of the wave equation on a circular domain.

References to the textbook may not be appropriate for later editions (the 8th  Edition appeared between the time the handouts were written and the preparation of this description).

Here are the handouts (for the section taught by Prof. Bumby).

  1. part 1
  2. part 2
  3. part 3
  4. part 4
