Viktor Vorchheimer, from Thuengen, Bavaria, Germany, was married to Marianne Rindskopf. Their children were
Max Neumann was a composer and director of the Frankfurt Synagogue Choir. Between 1903 and 1907 he attended the Jewish elementary school in Fuerth and between 1907 and 1911 a Talmud-Torah school in Burgpreppach (Unterfranken). Between 1911 and 1915 he studied in the Wuerzburg Conservatory and University.
Between 1915 and 1918, Max Neumann was a soldier in the First World War. Between 1918 and 1938, he lived in Frankfurt a. Maine, as a music teacher and director of the Synagogue Choir of the `Israelitischen Religiongesellschaft'. He directed frequent concerts for the synagogue, and was considred one of the leaders in Jewish liturgical music in Europe. In 1938, he moved to Paris, and kept running away from the Nazis to various places in France, among them, Avignon, Nice, and Lyon.
In 1948 he moved back to Frankfurt and lead a slitary life. In spite of his heart condition, he often lead choral concerts. According to the biographical book on Frankfurt Jews (in German), (from where the above sketch is taken), his premature death, at the age of 66 (in Feb. 3, 1960) of ``this amiable, highly talented, lonely (unmarried) man, came as a relief to him.''
