Lazarus and Braenchen's daughter, Rosalie (Rifka) ZUELZ (ca.1800-1849, Breslau (Cholera)) was my great great grandmother. She married Hirsch FREUND (ca.1777-1863, Breslau) from Schmiegel, son of Jacob (ben Samuel) FREUND (d.1807). They moved to Breslau in the mid 1830s (he is still mentioned as Kaufmann in Schmiegel in 1834 in "The Naturalized Jews of the Grand Duchy of Posen in 1834 and 1835" (transcribed by Edward David Luft). In Breslau, Hirsch FREUND became a very successful wool merchant. They had six sons, including my great grandfather Salomon (Wilhelm Salomon) FREUND (1831, Schmiegel-1915, Breslau) who was a lawyer (Rechtsanwalt und Notar) in Breslau and was on the city council of Breslau, and was president of city council for many years. In 1901, he became the second Jew to become an honorary citizen of Breslau.
One of Wilhelm Salomon FREUND's brothers was named Isidor (Asriel) FREUND another was Lazarus FREUND. They would have been named for Braenchen LATZ's husband R. Lazarus ZUELZ and his father Azriel. It appears that my great grandfather (b.1831) himself was named after his great grandfather Salomon LATZ (d.1829).
Wilhelm Salomon FREUND married Clara IMMERWAHR (1845-1914), daughter of David IMMERWAHR (1796-1861). There is a silver tiara and pin that they wore at their silver wedding celebration in 1893 in Breslau. They had a daughter and three sons. His son Dr. Walther FREUND (1874-1952) was a pediatrician in Breslau, and my grandfather. He and his second wife Ellinor FREUND, geb. BACH (1897-1976), my grandmother, moved from Breslau to Freiburg i. Br. in 1937. In October 1940, they were deported to the Camp de Gurs in Vichy France when the Jews of Rheinland Pfalz and Baden were deported as the first test of how the German population would react to the round up and disappearance of the Jews.
Eleasar Lazarus ZUELZ was a rabbi. He was apparently one of five Dajanim in Posen when R. Akiba EGER was the main rabbi there. One source indicates that Eleasar ZUELZ was dajan (Rabbinatsassessor Nebenrabbiner / Unterrabbiner) in Posen already in 1789 (1789-1827).
