For members of SCC for Exam 1 Only
If you qualify for membership, then your course grade will be computed in
two ways. The first way is the usual way,
counting everything, the
second way only counting exam 2, the quizes, and the Final divided by 400 and
multiplied by 500.
Whatever is higher, is your course grade,
determined according to the scale:
460-500:A ;
430-459: B+ ;
400-429: B ;
370-399: C+ ;
325-369: C ;
280-324: D ;
0-279: F . No Curve!.
For members of SCC for Exam 2 Only
If you qualify for membership, then your course grade will be computed in

What do you need to do in order to join the Second Chance Club for Exam 1?

Pick four random problems (from around the middle) from the problems at the end of each section in the book
covered by Exam 1 (see syllabus), on topics covered in the class. (You don't need to do any Linear Algebra problems).

on the shelf ACROSS from my office, Hill 704. Please put them in an envelope with your NAME
in BIG letters, and write "SCC I"

Show up (if it does not conflict with a class or other previous commitments that you can't get out of)
to the Review Clinic, Dec. 10, 2014, 2:40pm-4:20pm, FH (CAC!) A5 . If you can't make it,
do an additional (not too easy, pick at random) homework-style problem for each of the lectuers 17-21 (taken from the book).

Show up to the Marathon Review, Dec. 11, 2014, 8:40am-12:50pm, HLL 116

Successfully complete an easy, basic skills, "checking your answers" multiple-choice test,
given at HLL 116, Dec. 11, 2014 12:50-1:10pm (after the Marathon Review).

[Added Dec. 11, 2014]: If you had to be absent for part or for the whole Marathon
Review, for a good reason, you can still qualify for SCC2 if you do instead
one extra homework-style problem (from the book) from Lectures 13-20, for each
half-an-hour missed. In particular, if you were totally absent, you must do six
additional problems altogetger (NOT SIX PROBLEMS FROM EACH SECTION).
