For members of SCC for Exam 1 Only

If you qualify for membership, then your course grade will be computed in two ways. The first way is the usual way, counting everything, the second way only counting exam 2 (out of 100), the score from the TA (out ot 90), the notebook score (out of 10), and the Final (out of 200) divided by 400 and multiplied by 500. Whatever is higher, is your course grade, determined according to the scale:

460-500:A ; 430-459: B+ ; 400-429: B ; 370-399: C+ ; 325-369: C ; 280-324: D ; 0-279: F . No Curve!.

For members of SCC for Exam 2 Only

If you qualify for membership, then your course grade will be computed in two ways. If you qualify for membership in both clubs (meeting all the requirements below), then your course grade will be computed in two ways. The first way is the usual way, counting everything, the second way only counting the score from the TA (out of 90), the notebook score (out of 10), and the Final (out of 200) divided by 300 and multiplied by 500. Whatever is higher, is your course grade, determined according to the scale:

460-500:A ; 430-459: B+ ; 400-429: B ; 370-399: C+ ; 325-369: C ; 280-324: D ; 0-279: F . No Curve!.

What do you need to do in order to join the Second Chance Club for Exam I?

Don't write me Email asking me questions whose answers are clearly stated in this page.
You scored at least 40 points on Exam I (in exceptional cases, people who scored less may also be eligible, but they have to contact me and get special permission)
Attend TWO two-hours clinics on basic algebra and trig skills to be scheduled on [ note adjusted dates due to Sandy]

- 5:00-7:00pm, Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 Room: HLL-116
[note: If you have a DOCUMENTED justified absence from one or both sessions, include the note with the submitted stuff]
Complete a remedial algebra worksheet ,
Completely do ALL the five practice exams for Exam 1: first practice exam, second practice exam, third practice exam fourth practice exam fifth practice exam.
All the stuff should be submitted to me on the SHELF, across from my office, Hill 704 by Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, 10:00 pm

What do you need to do in order to join the Second Chance Club for Exam II?

Don't write me Email asking me questions whose answers are clearly stated in this page.
Carefully go over the posted solutions of Exam 2 [sections 1-3 class, sections 7-9 class], and do completely over all the problems that you didn't do completely, and write a short paragraph explaining your error, and why it is an error, and promising to try to never do them again.
Attend TWO (added Dec. 6, 2012: the second session is cancelled due to Dr. Z.'s broken hand) two-hours clinics where I will carefully go over Exam 2 for both classes, explaining everything, and what are common students' errors that one should watch out from. on
