What do you like best about this course?:

Comprehensive teaching done by Dr. Zeilberger. His style fosters learning the material so that we can test our skills on the exams.

Nothing.

I like that the instructor gives the students many opportunities to do well. The instructor means what he says when he says that the exams will be like quizzes and homework, so there is nothing to be surprised about.

This course was amazing and Dr. Z's amazing personality really made it hard to sleep in class.

The professor provided his own notes, which are very thorough and explain not only the theory but the problems also

His enthusiasm, the quiz's every week, the teachers willingness to help the students in any way he can, it seems like that's very rare from what I've seen. It also seems as though he realizes that everyone doesn't learn the same way and he accounts for that. He is a very effective teacher.

Dr. Z is certainly one of the best professors I have ever had. He was extremely clear in his lectures, prompt with email responses, and always trying to assist students. The daily attendance quizzes helped to make sure we really understood the material before even leaving the classroom each day. Dr. Z is entertaining while still getting the point across, which meant people were always paying attention in class.

Easy to follow, interesting concepts,

The Professor was excellent in how he presented the material, he really encouraged everyone to learn and try their best. He's one of the best professors I've ever had at Rutgers.

Amazing Teacher

He always did his best to make sure that you understood what the material makes sense. No question was stupid in his class.

Honestly everything.

There were no surprises. We knew there was an attendance quiz every class, and that there was a quiz and homework due every Thursday. I felt more prepared because everything was organized and methodical.

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

I would put more emphasis on knowing the material rather than obtaining the correct answer.

I would not do anything differently.

I know the teacher is trying to keep students focused, but the random yelling is unnecessary. Also he gets derailed and talks about specific students in front of the whole class, which i see no reason for. Not to mention the teacher is often difficult to understand.

I wouldn't change a thing.

I'm not sure of anything that could be improved. There was just the right amount of homework, quizzes/exams had things that were expected, lectures were excellent, etc., so I can't think of any possible improvements.

Maybe a little more theoretical background? It felt a little bit too much plug-and-chug, so more challenging homework problems too?

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing

Nothing.

I can't think of a single thing that could've been done better.

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

He hasn't.

The instructor made this course very interactive and has made the material easier to learn, which made the course enjoyable.

The policy of the second chance club is really a unique way to get students engaged if they are not doing so well. I really love the idea and wish that more professors were like this.

Wants everyone to succeed and believes in second chances

He makes you think outside the box when solving problems on h.w. or exams.

Dr. Z always made sure to use useful examples in lectures to bridge the mathematics involved to everyday life. Mentioning important partial differential equations in finance, physics, etc. was a good way to introduce the topic, and the constant reference to applications of techniques was a good way to keep the math in perspective.

The instructor has greatly encouraged my intellectual growth and has made me want to also either teach Math or continue on with my education in mathematics.

This Professor made me find faith again in learning math at Rutgers.

Making the lectures precise and exciting

The way he taught. The quizzes really helped. Also the exams were extremely fair.

You could tell that he truly wants us to succeed. He is enthusiastic about the material and makes it relevant and interesting. He gives each student ample opportunity to get good grades and takes a personal interest in them.

Other comments or suggestions::

The man is brilliant, there is no doubt about that, but he is too stubborn. He changed his grading policy for the second exam because he was getting too many complaints. Unfortunately, he changed it to an unfair system rather than thinking his initial policy was wrong. His intelligence has inflated his ego and he clearly plays favorites. The man is a great researcher for Rutgers, but his grading policies are too unfair and he is too stubborn to see it. He emphasizes his little tricks and shortcuts a lot to stroke his ego as well. If you are not going to curve, give partial credit. If you are going to give hardly any partial credit, curve. You cannot have it both ways.

I would just like to say that the grades were not assigned fairly. The rule on exams is that if the answer is wrong, at most the student can only receive half of the credit. But, I have seen on other students exams that they received much more than half where as other students only received. One student actually only got about 3 points subtracted from a problem and the answer was wrong. I would like to suggest that this not happen in a professional environment because not only does it decrease the respect the student has for the professor but also hurts the student academically.

Dr. Z is the best! Thanks!

Fantastic professor, made the material easy to understand and encouraged all students to always do well.

This is by far the best professor at Rutgers. He should have his own workshops teaching other professors in the math and sciences of how exactly you can be effective in your teaching. Despite his credentials and high honors, he remains humble and gives students the confidence that even though it is a difficult topic, you can still succeed; the professor did this by teaching simple instead of giving out complex problems that doesn't have a purpose in a learning environment. Once again, best man in the world Dr.Z!

no

Dr Z is a great professor ! He makes me want to further in math then I previously thought!

Best calculus teacher I have ever had, if not the best teacher. Would take again in an instant.

Easily one of my favorite professors. I tell all of my friends that they need to be in his class. This course was interesting, insightful, and enjoyable. What an outstanding instructor.

Excellent professor, at times over the top.
