What do you like best about this course?:
The teacher went out of his way so that we would learn the material
Dr. Zeilberger is really nice
Nothing
ways of evaluating and solving matrices.
I liked the examples that Dr. Z used which related the material to the real world. I also liked his detailed solutions which he would post for every quiz and test review. I felt that his steps and explanations were much clearer than the textbook. He also gave very useful shortcuts when applicable which made solving the problems much quicker in many cases.
his passion for math
If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:
nothing
not have quizzes every class
Not yell at the students when they make a mistake
provide less true and false questions on homeworks.
Concentrate more on theory in the quizzes.
no notebook check
In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:
He would make the homework mandatory and made sure we do it so that we would understand the material
keeping organized notes and dated notes
Encouraged me to think about a teaching career because I disagree with so many of this professor's teaching methods
has progressively increased my interest in the course.
Dr. Z helped me to gain more interest in learning not only how to do the calculations, but also, why I was doing them. He put great emphasis on the theory behind linear algebra. Although this made the course more difficult, it helped me to gain a much better understanding of the material.
yes
Other comments or suggestions::
AMAZING TEACHER!
excellent professor!!!
the professor was outright rude to students who asked questions or answered a question incorrectly in class. The professor would lose his temper in class and belittle and disrespect students. He is extremely smart, but not fit to teach
fair grader, and excellent idea with the second chance clubs.
Dr. Z is by far, one of the best professors that I have had for any class. I would recommended him to anyone who is serious about mathematics and who is looking for an excellent instructor. My only criticism is that he looses his patience easily at times if someone cannot answer his question, or if they do not have their homework completed on time. I would suggest that he should work on how he responds to students during these situations.
He yells at his students. I would appreciate if he could keep his cool when speaking to his students.
Its sometimes hard to understand the professor. He speaks too quickly at times and the theory of the course is explained much too quickly. I feel as though I know the basics but I don't understand why they are...
