What do you like best about this course?:

Dr. Z

He was extremely organized and taught very, very well. Made everything clear-cut and simple.

The teacher is determined to help students learn the subject matter even to an individual level.

Dr. Z is a great teacher and truly cares about his students' success!

Dr. Z is perhaps one the best professor I've had at Rutgers and was the main reason why I enjoyed the class as much as I did.

Dr. Z was very helpful and was very interest in making sure his students do well.

Dr Z

I loved Dr. Z's teaching methods. Although eccentric, he makes sure every student learns and knows what is going on at all times

The professor was excited to teach the class.

The teacher cares. hands down best teacher ive had in all my years here.

Dr. Z is a very straightforward teacher and isn't trying to trick students. The exams match exactly what we've learned and don't intentionally confuse us. The pace of the course was good, and I liked the structure of the notes.

Use of the chalkboard

Dr. Z is the man, he knows how to get kids to work hard while being a genuine and nice person. He is excellent at explaining things, is always willing to help you, has a great sense of humor and is fair.

the professor

Professor Zeilberger is a fantastic lecturer with a lot of energy and concern for his students.

The professor

The professor and his enthusiasm

Dr Z, makes calculus seem easy

Teacher made the fullest effort to ensure that his students interacted with him and paid attentions

the professors attitude when teaching, and his no electronics policy (allows me to concentrate). the attendance quizzes are great too.

The Zeilberger

Professor is well prepared, and has the entire semester laid out ahead of time.

Dr. Z!

The instructor was very clear and taught effectively. If you were able to do the homework, you were more than prepared for the exams.

he is a fair teacher and inspires students to learn

You're a great professor! And very organized!

Dr. Z is simply the best professor anyone can have at Rutgers. He knows his material and makes it very easy for his students to understand it. He makes you want to come to class even at 8:40 in the morning. Great instructor!

The lecture notes were very well put together and thorough.

attendance quiz at the start and end

The material was presented in a way that most people with decent math knowledge would understand.

The professor was animated and passionate about the course material. The problems he did in class made sense and he went at a reasonable pace.

The professor

the professors and TAs cared greatly about the material and teaching the material so learning it was much easier

The professor is one of the best I have ever had. Even though it was an 8:40 AM class, I never want to miss/skip it because I know every class is important. I really appreciate all the handouts and quiz solutions posted on your website. I often have a hard time reading/learning math books, so your handouts really helped me. I also really appreciated the Second Chance Clubs, knowing that you want the best for all of us and for us to learn.

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

nothing

Stop yelling at students for making simple mistakes.

I would change nothing about this course.

Not give such hard quizzes in recitation. Also I would give more instruction about the maple labs.

nothing

Not yell so loudly at my students every time they asked a question.

Nothing. Dr. Z does it right

Nothing, Dr. Z was the bes tprofessor ive ever had at Rutgers

Although I know this is an engineering course, I would have liked to have gone over more proofs in class.

Be a little more organized but that gives the class its personality as well

I would spend more time on the last two topics on power series, but that's the only trouble I've had.

Nothing

I wouldn't do anything differently except maybe make it later in the day

nope

Nothing.

I did not agree with the grading policy, where you can only get 5/10 points for a simple mistake that may have messed up the answer (some mistakes that were not even math related).

i would try to give practice exams instead of just basing off the hw

not skip some of the steps when explaining a problem.

Use mathematica or matalab instead of maple. Maple has no use for most engineers after they finish calc4

I would not do anything differently.

nothing, he is amazing

Not different.

While I understand the purpose of the early attendance quiz, I would skip it because of the time it took up in class.

Explain every detail out in a problem during lecture no matter how pointless the detail may seem

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

encouraged extra tutoring

The instructor has made me extremely comfortable with performing mathematical operations.

Very helpful.

He encourages everyone to learn and do well. He makes math fun and gives everyone the right mindset to understand and enjoy differential equations.

This course has taught me a great deal of math but also to always take good and organized notes and focus in class

The professor took time out to explain the uses of the material in the real world which is always cool.

so many, i cant list them. he just taught me like i was in high school again, and i learned very well in high school so to have a professor who can do that in college makes going to lecture worth it.

Dr. Z will always respond to e-mails, hold extra office hours, extra tutoring, and will answer all questions, no matter how simple they are. As long as you're respectful in class, Dr. Z has absolutely no problem explaining something until you get it.

Dr Z will bring up real world applications such as google, finance, and particle physics that use the same basic concepts we explore

he gave me motivation and a method to study for this class

This course taught me that there are systematic ways of organizing a lot of different concepts, and that the best way to understand something is usually the simplest one.

Very good at giving us each concept in an easy to understand way. Also very funny and friendly guy, making learning that much easier.

Great professor, good at explaining concepts

Dr. Z constantly provides opportunity for growth and a lot of times reaches out to struggling students to help them do better. It gets rid of the fear that if you fall behind you can't catch up, and allows the students to focus better on the material.

he makes students interact with him and learn more consistently

he has motivated me to learn the subject because he is so motivated about it.

"There are some differential equations that no one can solve, not even god" "From the point of view of the derivative, the man who make 1 million dollars a day for his whole life and the man who makes 1 dollar a day are both losers! They never change!" -DZ

he makes it so you can learn and trys in every way to get do that, gives full attention to students

Made me well prepared for calculus 5

By taking the quiz every lecture at the end he made us practice the topic learned on that day.

Dr. Z has encouraged my interest in math greatly.

the way they care about the course material shows me how I should be caring for the course material and therefore motivating me to learn more

Once again, I really appreciate that he truly wants us to do our best. When someone believes in me, I find more energy and motivation to do my best. I loved listening to the brief history lessons about great mathematicians. It makes the course more interesting.

Best math teacher and professor

Greatest professor ever!

Prof. Zeilberger is very motivated and brings a vibrant energy to his lectures. He is however extremely strict with policy and will scold a student for using phones/laptops or dozing off. While I think this is beneficial for some students, I prefer a slightly more relaxed atmosphere in the classroom. Overall, I think his teaching methods were effective.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER. cares about the students. thanks!

None. I loved this class!

Dr. Z is a wonderful instructor!

give him a raise, I want all of my professors like him.

Thank you for a great semester!

The best class i've taken at Rutgers.... Calc 4 with Dr. Z, as crazy as that sounds.

Dr. Z's dedication and interest are very clear. It's nice to have a teacher who cares so much about making sure the students learn.

KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK!

Dr.Z is by far the best professor I've had at Rutgers. He is enthusiastic about what he's teaching, makes sure everyone understands the material, and his lectures are usually entertaining and always easy to follow.

This class was extremely fair to every student. It was clear that Dr. Z knew the material and also knew how to effectively teach it while generating some interest in the course material. His exams were also extremely fair as they should be, and every student had the opportunity to succeed with the help of the professor.

Dr. Z is hands down one of the best professors at Rutgers. Difficult and requires a lot of work input but he is no doubt one of the best around

I just want to thank you so so so much. I lost my interest in calculus after struggling through Calc II and III (as a combined result of bad professors and lack of interest and self-motivation). But you really made math fun for me again because all your homework problems were fair (challenging, but do-able) and all your exams were fair. For once in a long, long time, I felt that I can obtain an A (without relying on curves) through my own efforts. I ended my "calculus journey" on a high note, thanks to you :) Professor, you are an inspiration.
