What do you like best about this course?:

Attendant quiz is an excellent idea. Very helpful.

This was my first time learning math in an abstract manner, and I understood mathematical concepts better.

The professor

The Instructor

Course material

Dr. Z's explosive attitude made things less boring than they could've been

This course was organized very well in a way that was easy to understand. The professor was very encouraging.

everything

I like how all quiz and attendance quiz solutions were posted online very clearly.

I really enjoyed all the connections that Dr. Z made to computer science, such as defining operations with inputs and outputs, talking about how linear algebra is used for machine learning, and more.

You really seem to want everyone to succeed! I love that!

Personality of professor

Doctor Zeilberg

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

Sometimes the pacing was a little too quick and I had trouble following the steps.

Weekly quizzes were super helpful study resources

Make attendance policy clearer. Provide more time for quizes. Make quizzes at end of class, can't always help the bus situation and make it on time, i think its only fair.

Nothing

Not deduct majority points off on exams and quizzes for careless mistakes- they are so commonplace, that to deduct most or all the points due to careless mistakes during test time unfairly represents whether the student has mastered the material or not

nothing

I was curious about linear transformations, so I wish we would have covered those.

None

Stop bothering people about their phones!!! It's really distracting. Class time could be utilized much more effectively if you just left people alone. Maybe tell people they have to sit in the back half of the room if they want to use their devices. Don't spend so much time explaining Maple. It's very simple to use and hardly anyone actually does use it. When you hand quizzes back, don't tell every single person what they did wrong. It's an enormous waste of time, and they can see right on the quiz what they did wrong.

nothing

Nothing. Dr.Z is the GOAT

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

Homeworks helped me really understand concepts, and clarified some things for me in multivariable that I was confused about.

Learn more about course material

Pointed out a few uses for linear algebra that could possibly be relevant for my future

everything

The professor really cares about the students and wants all of them to pass the class.

Dr. Z is extremely engaging and encouraging. He made a real effort to learn everyone's names and is one of the few professors that show an awareness of pedagogical strategies

Dr. Z has made me thinking about computer science concepts in a mathematical way and has enhanced my mathematical reasoning skills.

By making sure no one in class used cell phones or laptops which most professors do not do

He encourages that you do not make mistakes.

Other comments or suggestions::

Overall, I loved this class a lot. Dr Z is an amazing and entertaining lecturer. I look forward to taking future math classes with him.

None

One of the best teachers/professors I've ever had.

I look forward to using linear algebra for computer science and engineering applications.
