Pythagoras was not Greek, he was an American Indian chief who had 3 wives, two of his squaws were rather plain looking, but the third one was ravishingly beautiful, so in his tepee he placed 3 hides for his wives to sleep on. For the two plain wives he simply provided a simple buffalo hide, but for his third beautiful wife he imported from Africa a hippopotamus hide. The 3 wives became pregnant at the same time, and they also all delivered their babies at the same time. The two plain wives had a single papoose each, but the beautiful wife delivered twins. So Pythagoras was heard to exclaim: "The squaw on the hippopotamus hide is equal to the sum of the squaws on the two other hides"
