The Rutgers Math grad student team "Sloan's Teddy" were the winners of the 2003 Fred Almgren memorial race trophy, winning with a time of 3:07, at a pace of 7:20 minutes/mile. Second place went to Columbia University, which fielded a team for the first time since 1979. There were six teams in all competing this year.

Due to construction at the end of leg #1 under I-287, the first two legs were altered slightly, with the result that the race was 25.5 miles long this year.
The results are presented below in a series of tables :

  • TABLE 1 : 2003 teams and overall times
  • TABLE 2 : Team split times
  • TABLE 3 : 2003 Participants and their times

c=RU Math#2 runner started leg #4 with CS runner, 5:55 early. Leg #4-7 times have been corrected for this.
p=Columbia's runner started leg #5 in the parking lot, took 17 seconds to get to towpath
e=estimated (error at most 90 seconds); final runner for RU Math#1 was not timed at the end of the race.
