Homework assignment No. 9, due on Thursday, November 16: Book, Pages 106 to 110, problem 8(b),(f),(p),(r),(t), problem 9(d),(f), problem 14. Also, page 117, problem 8 (Note: this is almost exactly the same as the theorem we did in class, except for the fact that in this problem b is allowed to be negative. Please do this problem without using the theorem proved in class. Your proof should be an almost verbatim copy of the proof we did in class, except that you will have to make a few changes to accomodate the fact that b can be negative.)
