Introduction to Analysis, 5th edition by E. D. Gaughan.
Grading:
There will be two midterm exams,
a final exam, workshops and homework. Each midterm exam is worth 100
points. The final exam is worth 200 points. The workshops are
worth 100 points. The homework
is worth 50 points. Therefore, you can get a maximum of
550 points in the course.
Material to be covered:
I hope to go through chapters 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6
and then go through chapter 7 or chapter 5.
The Thursday workshops:
On Thursdays, when we
meet in HH-B3, we will have workshops. During these workshops,
you will form small groups and work on challenging problems.
At the end of the workshop, I will announce which problem must
be written up and handed in during the next workshop.
The write-up must be in your own words.
