What do you like best about this course?:

How useful this math is in the real world.

From the very first day of recitation, Patrick was very enthusiastic about the subject. His passion and knowledge of the subject, along with his humor, made the class not only enjoyable, but also effective. He's definitely the best TA I've had so far, and I don't think there will be another TA like him in my future classes.

Pat made recitation something to look forward too; He always had an upbeat attitude and made subject material very easy to understand.

Patrick Devlin is a fantastic TA. He feels more like a close friend who is smart and also great at teaching rather than a teacher's assistant. I really enjoyed attending his class every week and sometimes wished that the class was longer.

Finding volume of about anything.

Everything about it was amazing

The positive attitude of the instructor each week.

the TA was absolutely joyful and came into recitation each time with a smile on his face ready to teach, even though the class was usually quiet and paying attention, he always found a way to make the class enjoyable and break the ice

class was very fun

A good compliment to the lectures, helped to bring clarity to the actual problem solving.

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

Not have maple.

Nothing.

Nothing. The class is basically perfect.

Nothing. Pat was incredible

no.

nothing

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

It made me think more about the world and how math relates to all of it.

In lecture we would learn about the theory behind and derivation of the concepts (along with some examples), however, in recitation we would be informed about the concepts' practical applications (which is more useful when it comes to initially learning about the topics).

Pat made easy to understand comparisons between subject material and real-life applications; Seeing this made me understand better and feel better about what I was learning and pursuing as an Engineer.

Pat taught me how to learn calc in a fun way

He just has a passion for math. He cracks everyone up with his fun way of teaching

By making the class a positive atmosphere it helped encourage wanting to learn the material.

showed me new topics and aspect of math

Other comments or suggestions::

Pat did a great job, had a lot of good energy. Made recitations exciting even when it was at 8:40 am.

I would highly recommend Pat to my friends who have to take calc 3.

best TA ever !!! Patrick rocks .

great TA would love to have him again for my next course, very intelligent and always created a fun atmosphere in the classroom

Pat was incredibly helpful in elaborating on subjects covered in class, his methods were very different from anything I've ever seen, but In a great way. His interaction with the class and his method of getting the students involved in correcting habits of his were both fantastic.
