What do you like best about this course?:

Hes fun to learn calculus from.

I already took calc during my senior year of high school, but this course goes significantly more in-depth, with Pat making the material as interesting as possible.

Pat Devlin.

TA is very knowledgeable in the subject matter and teaches the material in a very fun and interesting way.

He's a very fun teacher. He gets the information in my head while also making it fun.

The instructor was very interested about what he was teaching and he had a strong interest in having the students learn.

He not only knows how to be friend with students but also is really good at teaching students.

It's a lot of math.

Pat's love of the subject and how enthusiastic he was about it

The motivation from my TA and professor encouraged students to learn.

Patrick was a very good teacher, and he helped me greatly in understanding calculus.

very simple and fun to be in. and explained a lot more

The enthusiasm throughout every recitation and office hours to show the sheer genuine interest of math.

It was a really helpful course to review and ask questions. Also Pat was really enthusiastic which made the class nicer.

Pat was always there to offer a helping hand as he constantly arranged office hours. He was very funny, who everyone enjoyed having as a TA.

Explained everything in detail and in a simplistic fashion.

It makes me care about my education.

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

Nothing really.

Not much, Pat is a very good TA.

Nothing. You rock, Pat Devlin.

Nothing.

Make it easier!

The class was not always organized, so I would try to plan what to teach ahead of class.

Take it a little slow.

Spend less time on one topic and talk about more

Nothing! Patrick was always excited about teaching, which in turn made the students excited about learning!

Maybe not lecture as much, but allow people to work on the assignment and ask questions.

Do more complicated examples on the board.

Nothing. Pat did a superb job!

I would add more time for workshops.

No, Pat does it perfectly.

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

Hes interesting

When he had the time, he taught other, interesting types of mathematics.

He includes parts of class to go over what it counts for in the real world. He explains everything so simply it's my fault when I don't understand something.

Taught me to look at math in a different way and encouraged me to understand the concepts behind the problems rather than mechanically solving the problems.

In office hours he teaches me in the most logical ways possible, which makes it easy for me to understand.

The class was very interesting and the instructor was very willing to give help to any time someone asked a question.

He explains the equation or math theory in several different way. Thus, I learn how to deduce the equation????????????????????????????once I??????????????????????????????

Yes.

He made the class fun and really put himself into it

He taught us different ways to do certain problems and i like his methods better

So many different scenarios and thoughts have gone into each assignment that Calculus can be viewed as simple numbers to dungeons and dragons.

He allowed me to view math from a more logical and enjoyable perspective than before.

I have more interest for pursuing a major in math.

He has encouraged me to further my education in mathematics and advised me on matters of my major.

Other comments or suggestions::

The intructor was very helpful and was always willing to assist anyone during office hours with any calculus or math related questions they might have. He also extended office hours quite frequently to be more flexible for the students. He was also very interested in the subject of mathematics. So, his interest encouraged me to pay attention more and be more of an active learner.

Pat is one of my favorite teachers. He's fun, smart, nice, and fair.

overall, outstanding

If I could, I would rather have Patrick be my lecture professor.

Pat is one of the best and most helpful TA's I have ever had.

Pat always made a relatively dull subject seem very interesting, and gave us all the resources for each and everyone of us to succeed. This was Pat's first year as a TA, but I never would've known if he didn't tell us. He always seems to know what he's doing as if he's been here before. Pat will make a very successful professor in the near future.

Hope he teaches calc 2 so i'm able to have him as an instructor again. Great personality and never a dull moment in class.
