Mathematical Physics Seminar
January Schedule
Organizer- Joel L. Lebowitz
email: lebowitz@math.rutgers.edu
- Speaker- A. Kupiainen, Helsinki University
- Title-
Lagrangean Dynamics in Time Correlated Turbulent Velocity Ensembles
- Time/place- 1/23/2003 11:30am in Hill 705
- Abstract-
Velocity fields occuring in fully developed turbulence
are spatially rough and give rise to the phenomenon
of nonuniqueness of trajectories in the motion of fluid
particles even in the absence of noise. We review
progress in understanding of this phenomenon in
the context of synthetic gaussian velocity ensembles.
Please note there will be a brown bag lunch between the 2
seminars this morning. Bring your sandwich.
Coffee and homemade cookies will be
available.
Time/place- 1/30/2003
There will not be a mathematical physics seminar on Thursday, January
30, since the mathematics department will be holding the Jean Taylor
Symposium in honor of Professor Taylor's retirement. The symposium
will take place on Thursday and
Friday, January 30 and 31, 2003, in Hill Center, Room 705. For
details please see http://www.math.rutgers.edu/events/jtconf.html
