Applying to honors classes and honors sections can only be done through the online honors application: https://www.math.rutgers.edu/component/chronoforms5/?chronoform=RequestPortal_HONORS2 Instructors *cannot* issue special permissions of any kind, every SP is handled through the appropriate web processes. The special permission process is very complex. Unlike registering for normal courses, registration for courses which require special permission does not work on the principle of first-come-first-served. Honors special permission requests are generally not even considered before the previous semester's grades are in. Being in the Rutgers honors system does not guarantee that the student is accepted to honors math classes or honors sections of math classes. Students planning to apply to Math 300 are encouraged to read the following message: https://www.math.rutgers.edu/academics/undergraduate/269-course-materials/300/1253-message-to-students-who-are-considering-taking-300 The honors section of Math 300 is even more demanding and more tailored to students who are seriously considering a career in math. Students are expected to have an excellent record in Rutgers classes. As a result, freshmen are rarely accepted to Math 300H in Fall semesters. If you decide to apply, please fill out all fields in the application form, not only the starred ones.
