Tentative Schedule & textbook homework for Math 291, fall 2002

Calculus (Early Transcendentals), by James Stewart, 4th edition, Brooks/Cole Publishing Co., 1999. There's also a thinner book, Multivariable Calculus with the same {author | edition | publisher}, containing mostly the chapters we will cover but the chapter numbering is changed. So the big book's chapters {12,13,14,15,16} become the thinner book's chapters {13,14,15,16,17}.

Note
Odd-numbered problems have bare answers or hints in the back of the book.

Comments
What follows is a rather rapid schedule I've copied from a previous instructor. Almost surely I will not be able to keep up. I hope that significant portions of most Thursdays will be devoted to discussion of homework and workshop problems. I suspect that I may occasionally need to "borrow" some workshop time to catch up.

Meeting times & places
All classes are 4:30-5:50 (sixth period). Classes meet in SEC 205 on Monday and Wednesday and in SEC 218 on Thursday except when otherwise noted (such as 9/12 -- see below).
