Maple grader contact information
The course is graded "on the curve": this means that overall letter grades are assigned using a grade distribution curve obtained from historical 244 course grade statistical data for all sections. Percentages for my course are chosen to be within 1 or 2% of the historical grade distributions for all 244 sections, with actual cutoffs being selected where there appear to be natural breaks between groups of numerical scores.
Please carefully observe the due dates for the Maple labs. No late Maple labs are accepted, for any reason. So please download the Maple files in good time and plan accordingly. If you expect to be absent on the day a Maple lab is due, you may hand in the Maple lab early or ask a friend to turn in the lab on your behalf.
Exam preparation and sample exams
Exam problems will be closely based on the assigned textbook homework and in-class examples. Anyone who has carefully reviewed the class examples and the homework problems should be well-prepared for the exams. You may use a calculator, but the exams will not emphasize problems that are too cumbersome for hand calculation. You are expected to remember the basic rules and formulae of Calculus I but the exams will emphasize understanding rather than memorization. Books or notes are not permitted and no formula sheets will be provided for any exam. You may use the following sample exams for review:
