What do you like best about this course?:

Chloe was very enthusiastic about teaching the course and was easy to approach with any concerns and/or questions about the course material.

The quizzes and the general flow of the class.

We get to work together with people in our class to look at each workshop problem and we review in the beginning of the class.

I liked the best about this course is the enthusiasm, the instructor brought into workshops and how she helped students solve problems.

Taking up calculus has forced me to create a strong work ethic. I don't have nearly as much time as I did last year in high school, but the fast pace of the class forces me to focus much more intensively.

Availability when asking questions

The structure of having both lecture and recitation to reinforce topics.

Taking derivatives and failing at jt

The brief review session in the beginning.

I liked that the course was not too stressful.

I liked the review session at the beginning of class, and the packet outlining everything about graphing was very useful

I like that it goes over the information we learned in class rather than just doing the workshops.

Reviews before quizzes.

If you were teaching this course, what would you do differently?:

Put more sub-questions on the quiz for more of an opportunity to score well.

Make workshops either easier or explain them a fair bit.

Not a quiz every week but maybe every other week instead.

What I would definitely do differently while teaching this course is spend more time practicing problems. A lot of the class time was taken to reinforce broad concepts, but I have personally found that doing problems and drawing pictures to those problems makes a much more efficient recitation.

I would focus on a particular workshop problem that was going to be handed in, versus being given various problems, so it shows me what specific concept in important.

I would have notes preplanned on the board/s and some additional work to give out if anyone needs help; no one should be left confused.

Nothing

Change workshop late policy

I would work through more difficult problems, problems that are exam level problems.

I would make more of those packets outlining everything, like ones for all the integral rules and derivative rules

Give a little more time for the quizzes.

Not give a quiz every week.

In what ways, if any, has this course or the instructor encouraged your intellectual growth and progress?:

Sometimes she would relate this course to real life and how it applies and why it is important.

Chloe made herself available as much as possible to assist all of her students. She taught the material very effectively and made me feel more comfortable in class.

The instructor has encouraged my intellectual growth by giving me challenging problems and explaining to me how the answer is derived.

I dream about graphs in my dreams now.

The workshops helped me apply the concepts to real world situations and explain my approach.

She is very supportive and shows huge help and concern for students

Sometimes I would stay after class, she helps a lot with explaining some difficult problems I had trouble on.

The instructor encouraged students to work on problems outside of class and prepared students well for the exams.

Other comments or suggestions::

N/a

I also believe that there should be more quiz problems, that those problems should be more closely related to exam problems, and that quizzes should be given at the very end of class. I say this because giving 2-3 problems that are not exam related proved to be ineffective, and not very helpful. The penalty for getting one question wrong is too much, and does not allow for much error. Also, when preparing for the exam, the questions were not as helpful as I had seen them in the past. More conventionally structured problems, and more problems in general, will give a much more adequate study opportunity.

Chloé is probably one of the best TAs I've had
